I've never written a blog before, but I do read a lot of them. My favorite blog is called "Hipster Runoff". I know it can be mistaken as "Lame..." but I find it very interesting. It is mostly about trending topics in alternative music, fashion, movies, and pop culture in general. Carles, the author of the blog posts his thoughts on different topics as well as asks for his reader's input. The blog is called Hipster Runoff because the people in the blogs are called "hipsters" based on their style and attitude. It is quite amusing how hipsters can be depicted. The guys are usually said to wear girl jeans, cheap sunglasses, act poor while actually having a substantial amount of money, they drink beer and look unkempt. Sometimes, the word hipster is kind of demeaning. Critics say that hipsters are just posers, trying to "bring back" old styles and make them cool. In my opinion, being a hipster is just wearing clothes that others think aren't cool anymore, just to be different. There are very funny videos on YouTube that make fun of the hipsters. I know...some may not think the videos are funny but I find them funny because I am sometimes identified as a hipster by friends and strangers. You have to somewhat know the lifestyle of a hipster to find the humor in the videos.
I am glad i had the chance to make this blog, I will hopefully keep up with it and learn to do more things with it in this class.
